Knowledge Is Power

Wow! Wow! Wow! Have you read any of Lyle McDonald’s e-books or have you visited his web site at  http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/? This guy is seriously into fat, more specifically Fat Loss. I had never realized there were so many hormonal processes involve in losing That Last 10 Pounds. And in his collection of e-books, he describes them all.

His e-books include;

  • The Stubborn Fat Solution
  • Ultimate Diet 2
  • The Ketogenic Diet
  • Bromocriptine
  • Applied Nutrition
  • The Protein Book
  • The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook
  • A Guide to Flexible Dieting

These are very comprehensive and very well written. Also note that a good portion of the man’s efforts are focused on the Body Building community. Even so, the fat gaining and fat losing processes are the same whether you’re prepping for a contest or just trying to break through any kind of a weight loss stall. They are great books to have in your arsenal of fat fighting tools.

In his e-book, The Stubborn Fat Solution, he really gets after it with what he calls the Stubborn Fat Protocol 2.0. Whether you’re trying to lose the fat or just want a challenging new routine, this is a great cardio work-out. It successfully mixes HIIT with steady state cardio plus includes a basic interval set at the end of the session. It was originally intended for the ’love handle’ and lower stomach fat that most men carry. I can pretty much guarantee, if you can keep it going twice a week for 6 weeks, you will make gains on the flab department. Just a warning, you will be doing a full hour of cardio and the sessions ARE tough. Also, you will need to spread the sessions throughout the week or your legs will pay dearly.

I would go over the protocol here but I really think, in all fairness to the author, you need to buy his book. The protocol is his system, his intellectual property and is quite unique in its application. Buy the Book!!!!

In a second book, Ultimate Diet 2, Lyle puts out an exercise and nutrition outline that is also excellent. The best part; Lyle tries to educate you about the body’s processes so that the diet and the work routines are NOT prescriptive; what works best for your situation can fit within the bounds of his recommendations. And since I’m in Beijing for the next several weeks, I’m giving it a shot. What makes it convenient for me to attempt this, in of all places Beijing? The hotel I’m staying at has an exceptional smorgasbord restaurant where you can control carbs and calories. Plus the hotel has a fairly well equipped gym with free weights and they do have a smith machine. It’s not a squat rack but you can still get in a pretty good 300 lbs. lift. And, there is a pretty good collection of lever and cable machines that you can also work on. You just have to adjust your routines to hit the target body areas with a load you’re normally working at. Since I have to adjust my routine anyway to accommodate the travel, why not give what Lyle has recommended a shot.

Basically the diet is a 7 day carb cycling routine that incorporates specific weight training and cardio protocols associated with the low carb and carb re-load cycle. I consider it very advanced stuff compared to the basic energy in = energy out diets that I posted in my original blog, A Book is Judged…. And because Lyle’s book does NOT dictate what to eat, when to eat or prescribe what specific exercises to complete, it fits a variety of situations that sound like they ‘Just Plain Work’. We are gonna’ find out. And if it’s a keeper, I’ll post my version as an attachment like I did the other’s, a simple link in the top right corner of the blog.

Have a great week, and keep pushing toward loosing that Last 10 Pounds.
